At noon the cat decides his day is done,
Yawning his way into a cozy chair,
His rotund belly soaking in the sun.

It’s tiring when one’s morning’s full of fun,
With loving hands to feed and banish cares -
At noon the cat decides his day is done.

He does as he pleases, this house baron -
The plump fluff-ball reclines with feline flair,
His rotund belly soaking in the sun.

Sprawled on his back, his tail curled in a bun,
The sofa is soon fuzzy with his hair;
At noon the cat decides his day is done.

Have dreams of butterflies and birds begun?
Do mice and catnip toys fly through the air?
His rotund belly soaking in the sun...

The sunbeams move; he slowly awakens
To follow warmth in slumbrous unaware -
At noon the cat decides his day is done,
His rotund belly soaking in the sun.

While this poem was inspired by my own adorable (and not very thin) feline, I am sure most cat lovers can relate.
