Pause
They say it’s better to have loved and lost,
But I beg to disagree.
For I gave away my heart he tossed
And now I’m half of me.
An empty shell.
A haunted ghost.
The dreams that fell,
I’ll miss the most.
O, to be whole again!
Fill me with something better.
O, to reverse time to when
I wrote him that first letter.
I would have told myself to wait
And put that thought on pause;
To stop, let You control my fate
And focus on my flaws;
To let Your hands complete my mold
And shape me to perfection.
Remove pride, let myself be told.
I’m only a reflection.
But I doubt I would have heeded.
For you controlled that too.
I didn’t see that all I needed
Was nothing he could do.
