Life Could Be Worse

Buck up kid,
Life isn't that hard,
Words harsh but true,
Sitting there,
Head looking down,
No eye contact is needed,
I know what he is going to say next,
The dramatic pause turns to a long silence,
A thump is herd,
I bring my head up just a bit,
I see no dad,
But then I do,
On the ground,
Lies an old man,
Gasping for air,
"Life could be worse," he says,
And that was the last he said,
Life Could be worse.
