You Never Said Goodbye
You never said goodbye
As I descend the stairs, looking for you face
As I look for the sun in the early hours of the dawn.
You never said goodbye
As I flew away.
You knew as well as I we were a solar eclipse,
Never again to meet.
So why were you not there?
Do you remember our last night?
Your arms wrapped around me
Like a midday wind in the month of July.
I believe you loved me then,
As the moon loves each young star,
As I loved you, as I’ll always love you.
Though, my memories grow distant with each passing hour,
Your face now a blur in my mind.
My heart no longer bleeds tears of loss for you,
My soul no longer fogs my mind with memories of you.
The only question I would ever ask of you
Is why did you never say goodbye?
