I said this wasn’t going to be the poem
That tells you I can’t let it go
That I won’t let it show
And I won’t let you know
How gray my days have been
I told them this wouldn’t be the poem
You’ve been waiting for all this time
Just to hear my simple rhyme
About a love, our love and crime
We shared so long ago
I surely wouldn’t write you a poem
Because I know how you are
I know you’ll go too far
My confident shooting star
The brightest in my sky
I’ve tried, but still no poem
No words can express,
For my mind’s just a mess!
You’d bring me no less
Manipulative little flower
If only a little poem
Could tell you how much I care
Hold you when you’re scared
Run its fingers through your hair
One touch and I am gone
To tell you through a poem
No longer straight, I am lined
Only you stuck in my mind
Alas, we are one of a kind
So we could never be
No hate was meant for this poem
Though hate will surely cover
For those who make me suffer
By taking away my lover
Never to see “us” again
So much beauty in one poem
I never cared for your lies
But to gaze within your eyes
Holds deeper passion, than the skies
Not just another pretty face
So many ways to write a poem
I could tell you I love you
Said by many, meant by few
But this to you, from me, is true
I’ll never love another
And when I’ve given you the poem
Hold it closely to your heart
For we are just the start
Though we are far apart
Since you’ve given me your name
We both had felt the shame
For being nearly the same
And so far from what’s right
That tells you I can’t let it go
That I won’t let it show
And I won’t let you know
How gray my days have been
I told them this wouldn’t be the poem
You’ve been waiting for all this time
