O
NCE UPON A TIME THERE LIVED A WANDERING SPIRIT. THE SPIRIT INHABITED A DARK FOREST. THE DARK FOREST WAS LOCATED IN THE LAND OF THE BLACKED OUT SUN. ONE DAY A SMALL FRAGILE LOOKING BOY WANDERED INTO THE FOREST THE BOY WAS SO PAIL COMPARED TO THE FOREST HE SHOWED ALMOST BRIGHTLY THE ONLY LIGHT THAT EVER RADIATED INTO THE FOREST. THIS MADE THE SPIRIT SMILE WHENEVER IT SAW THE YOUNG BOY OF ONLY FIVE YEARS OLD. THE SPIRIT KNEW BY THE SENSE OF MEEK ENERGY THAT THIS WAS THE BOY IT HAS PROTECTED AND CARED FOR THE BEST IT COULD. THE YOUNG BOY WALKED TOWARDS THE SAME SPOT HE ALWAYS DID HE STOPPED IN FRONT OF A LARGE TOMB LIKE ROCK FORMATION AND HE SPOKE THREE WORDS “I MISSED YOU.”
THE SPIRIT SMILED AT THE YOUNG BOY AND WHISPERED “I MISSED YOU ALSO DEAR.” THE BOY SAT DOWN CROSS LEGGED AND LOOKED AT THE WHITE KIMONO THAT SEEMED TO BE WEIGHTLESS AGAINST THE SPIRITS TRANSPARENT BODY. THE BOY KNEW ONLY ONE THING THAT THE SPIRIT WAS A FEMALE. THE SPIRIT HAD BEEN PONDERING THE THOUGHT IN HER HEAD FOR A WHILE SHE THEN LOOKED AT THE SMALL BOY AND SAID I AM GOING TO TELL YOU MY NAME.
SHE NOTICED THE BOY SMILED WIDER THAN USUAL. THE YOUNG BOY SMILED AND SAID “THANK YOU I WILL ALSO TELL YOU MINE.” ALMOST IN SYNC WITH EACH OTHER THEY SAID THEIR NAMES THE BOY SAID “DAMIEN” AS THE SPIRIT OF THE WOMEN SAID “JASMINE.” THE TWO OF THEM SAT THERE QUIET AND TAKING IN THE NEW DEVELOPMENT IN THEIR FRIENDSHIP. THE YOUNG BOY WAS THE FIRST TO BREAK THE SILENCE HE MUTTERED ALMOST INAUDIBLY QUIET “HELLO JASMINE.”
THE SPIRIT SMILED AND SAID IN A VOICE THAT SEEMED TO HAVE THE MOST SOOTHING EFFECT ON THE BOY “HELLO DAMIEN.” AGAIN THERE WAS THE SILENCE THAT SEEMED TO LAST FOREVER. THIS TIME IT WAS THE SPIRIT WHO SPOKE FIRST “I AM SO PLEASED WITH THE HELP YOU HAVE GIVEN ME AND THE CARE YOU ARE GIVING TO THIS” SHE TURNED AND GESTURED TO THE PILE OF ROCKS. THE BOY ASKED POLITELY “WHAT IS THAT M’AM?” THE SPIRIT ANSWERED ALMOST WITH NO EMOTIONS EXCEPT A HINT OF SADNESS “IT’S WHERE MY FATHER LEFT ME IT’S MY GRAVE.” IF IT WAS POSSIBLE FOR GHOSTS TO CRY HE KNEW HIS FRIEND WOULD BE HE SAW IT IN HER FACIAL EXPRESSION IT WAS LIKE SOMETHING THAT IF HE WERE TO SEE IT EVERY DAY HIS SMALL FRAIL HEART WOULD CEASE TO BEAT.
THE BOY LOOKED UP AT THE SPIRIT AND WHISPER “I’M SO SORRY IS THERE ANY WAY I CAN HELP?” THE SPIRIT AGAIN SMILED AND SAID “YOU ARE SUCH A SWEET BOY PLEASE FORGIVE MY SADNESS IT’S DONE AND OVER WITH BUT I WOULD LIKE MY FATHER TO NO WERE MY BODY IS LOCATED.” “WHO’S YOUR FATHER THE BOY ASKED?” EXCITEDLY. THE SPIRITS LOOKED DOWN DEEP IN THOUGHT AGAIN AND FINALLY UTTERED TWO WORDS “THE KING.”
IT HAD BEEN 10 YEARS SINCE SHE SAW THE YOUNG BOY THE SPIRIT GREW SADDER AND SADDER FINALLY DECIDING TO LEAVE HER PLACE OF HIDING. THE SPIRIT WANDERED OUT INTO THE TOWN IT WAS DARK AS USUAL IT WAS DARKER THAN THE FOREST IN WHICH SHE DWELLED FOR THE TWENTY YEARS SHE SAW THE DATE ON AN OLD STORE’S WINDOW IT WAS FEBRUARY 3RD IT WOULD BE HER THIRTY-FIFTH BIRTHDAY IF HER FATHER WAS ALIVE HE WOULD BE IN THE CASTLE NOW FIFTY-FIVE AND AGING HE WAS PROBABLY FORGOTTEN OF MY DEATH SHE THOUGHT TO HERSELF. THE SPIRIT ARRIVED AT THE CASTLE AND ENTERED THROUGH ONE OF THE LEFT WALL THAT LEAD INTO THE CORRIDOR LEADING TO THE GREAT HALL. SHE ENTERED HER FATHER’S CHAMBERS WERE SHE SAW THE OLD MAN GETTING READY FOR AN EVENT AN EXECUTION SHE BELIEVED. HE DISMISSED HIS SERVANTS AND LOOKED AT A PAINTING OF HER ON HIS WALL THE OLD DESOLATE KING SPIT ON THE PICTURE SMILING AND LEFT THE ROOM HE WENT DOWN THE CORRIDOR TO THE LEFT AND THEN ANOTHER TO THE RIGHT. SHE CLOSELY FOLLOWED HIM HE ENTERED A LARGE BALCONY SURROUNDED BY CANDLES THE KING ANNOUNCED IN A LOUD RESONATING VOICE “THIS IS THE KEY TO OUR LIGHT AT THE STROKE OF MIDNIGHT HE WILL BE GONE AND RELEASE THE SUN TO US OUR CROPS WILL COME BACK WE WILL BE SAVED!” THE CROWD DOWN BELOW CHEERED.
THE SPIRIT LOOKED AT THE MAN, HIS NECK TRAPPED IN THE GUILLOTINE, SHE NOTICED IT WASN’T A MAN BUT A YOUNG BOY. NOT MUCH OLDER THAN SHE WAS WHEN SHE DIED. SHE NOTICED THE SMILE. HE LOOKED OVER AT HER AND SMILED. SHE WAS TAKEN BACK, IT WAS DAMIEN, JUST AS SHE REALIZED THIS THE LARGE CLOCK ON THE WALL BEHIND HER FATHER CLANGED LOUDLY ANNOUNCING THE ARRIVAL OF MIDNIGHT. THE KING GAVE A GESTURE WITH HIS HAND AND THE BOYS SMILE BROADENED. AS THE GUILLOTINE DROPPED ONTO THE BOYS NECK SEPARATING HIS HEAD AND NECK FROM EACH OTHER. HIS HEAD DROPPED INTO A BASKET AND HIS YOUNG TEEN FACE WAS STILL SMILING. THE SPIRIT COULDN’T BELIEVE IT-- HER ENTIRE BEING BEGAN TO GLOW AND SHE KNEW EVERYONE COULD SEE HER. IT CONTINUED. THE BOYS SPIRIT AROSE OUT OF HIS BODY AND LINGERED NEXT TO HER. HIS TRANSPARENT BEING BEGAN TO GLOW BRIGHTER LIKE HERS. THE TWO SPIRITS’ BODIES EXPLODED AND THE CASTLE WAS DISINTEGRATED. ALL OF THE INHABITANTS IN THE CASTLE WERE KILLED. THE TOWN WAS FULL OF LIGHT, THE SUN WAS RISING SLOWLY IN THE EAST. IN THE FOUR YEARS AFTER THAT DAY THE TOWN SEEMED TO BECOME MORE MODERNIZED, ESPECIALLY AFTER THE DEATH OF THE KING. THE TWO YOUNG SPIRITS WILL ALWAYS BE KNOWN AND REMEMBERED AS….. fallen angels
