I am not a Soldier or Marine!

I am not a Soldier or Marine!

I am not a soldier, I am not a marine,
But I am a thirteen year old girl that has seen the unseen.
I've heard of hate and murder and war,
Rape, suicide, the ill, and what more?

My grandfather's hat lay on the table,
I used to remember him wearing it but now am I able?
His jet black jacket rests on a chair,
Love only causes pain, and life isn't fair.

He had risked his life for a safer world for me,
Witnessing a nightmare and opened his eyes to see.
Never did he tell me of his time in war,
I was much to young, maybe less then four.
He survived that time of battle and woe,
And how he did, I will never know.

Soldiers alike him, I give them my praise,
For going in that battlefield maize.

As cries of sorrow echoes through their ears,
The floor becomes drenched with our cold, wet tears.
They are the brave that have faced their fear,
As their hair is no longer, they check their mirror.

They see within, no longer a girl or boy,
But a women and man with a gun as their toy.

The fights will continue, they will never end,
Thank God for our soldiers who are there defend,

The fire is spreading,
Our world is treading.

Why?
Must my heart sigh.
The pain is to unbearable,
The memories are terrible!

As people fight in the cold,
I await for the mystery to unfold.
How many more lives must It take,
To stop these wars for God's Sake!?

On Christmas day they will still be there,
Knowing that life will never be fair.

Fighting for the ill,
Fighting not just to kill,
Fighting to stop the fuss,
Fighting to protect us!

I am not a soldier, I am not a marine,
But I am a thirteen year old girl that has seen the unseen.
I've heard of hate and murder and war,
Rape, suicide, the ill, and what more?

Violence and slaughter has brought no rights,
Only worriment and blood fights.
As we rest in the cold night,
We know we are being protected by those who fight.

Tears have cascaded down my cheeks,
Soldiers travel through woods and high mountain peeks.
Do not complain,
You have not witnessed a slain!

Easter will come and they will still be departed,
It feels as though it was several years since it started.
And yet...it probably has.

I am not a soldier, I am not a marine,
But I am a thirteen year old girl that has seen the unseen.
I've heard of hate and murder and war,
Rape, suicide, the ill, and what more?

I am a thirteen year old girl,

And my name is Jillian Mismas!

I cannot be what I am not, because if i am something I'm not, am I really more than nothing?

This poem is incredible. I can not believe a thirteen year old has so much insight.
