Breaking the Habit

Alright
I’m addicted
out of control with this poetry thing
All these writings
In case you haven’t noticed are about you
The pens in my hand
Ready and waiting
click, click
I write
a new present
a new insight
some dark
some funny
some heartfelt, gut wrenching, poignant
some love love lovely
All connected some how with you
there must be some help
for this affliction
everyday I start at the bottom
Go cold turkey
I don’t need you
So at the bottom I begin
and back I come
I always come back
click click
alright
I know already
I’m addicted
with poetry affliction
and it’s all your fault
if you didn’t waltz into my life
With such grace and…cockiness
I’m spellbound
if you didn’t make me laugh
or cry
or think about Abraham Lincoln not existing
or other utterly stupid things
I
could
get
some
work
done
but no
on and on you go
Running through my mind
And being reflected through my pen
trust me the writing’s on the wall
I’m going to lose my mind
Because of you
You’ll be happy after that
then
on top of it all
someone’s got to go and say
You’re in love aren’t you?
GOD!
Why?
Who would say such a thing?
I’m not in love…
I’m not…
Alright fine I’m in love!
Think about it
I long/dream/desire/yearn/would give my first born
(I don’t have one just so you know)
for it
For you
scary………
Rejection
is that not the ugliest word in the English language
And you’ve done it so many times
Oh well whatever
I’ve got reading to do
Writing to do
Work to do
I
need
a
fix,
my vein
is
waiting
But I can’t stop thinking of you….
