I Love You

People in their conversations,
Passing judgment and accusations.
Looking down on me with Pomp and arrogance,
Leaves a smell in the air of unseemly fragrance.

I love you.

You talk down to me, and make me feel inferior,
You treated me less than, ripped apart my interior.
Making me feel guilty or like I am a failure,
Making statements that make you grandeur.

I love you.

I served my country with honor and saw my friends lose their lives,
I come home to receive, disgrace and hatred, even despise.
Some of you protested and spit in our face,
Some of you screamed, "What a DISGRACE!"

I love you.

I was born with a different color than you,
It is different, there's nothing I can do.
You call me names, beat me, and maim,
You sneer at me & see us all the same.

I love you.

You tear into my flesh and cause me to bleed,
You scream that I am a sinner, of God I need!
Leaving me to die, bleeding here alone,
Last moments, I cry, your hatred was shown.

I love you.

My last gasps for breath, I shed another tear,
My only thoughts were for you and your fear.
Your fear to love someone, without reservation,
Your loneliness ,your hatred, I cried for your desperation.

And I say to you:

I love you.
