Ode to the Pointe Shoes
Sitting in a crisp, clean box,
and then wrapped in a
transparent satchel
The pointe shoes delicately lay
Smelling intensly of
New material.
The shanks are rock
Hard and the sides
Are round hills.
Your reliable strength
Will help me to ascend
Onto my toes and
You will safely bring
Me back down.
You arch my feet
Into waterfall-like
Bridges.
You mold to the
Shape of my toes and heels,
Water moving
Without complaint
To the contact of
A pebbles pressure,
IN this way you conform
To the form of my feet.
You bring me up and down.
Over and over.
