A man from the corner comes
His name I can see is darkness
He creeps and lingers
Until I feel as though I must touch
He is cold to the touch and
He is hard to escape from
His grip is too tight to fight
I creep out sometimes
And he whispers quietly
The things that he wants me to do
Darkness is good to me
Gives me a home and
I do what he says as favor

To Darkness.

I killed someone tonight
My love she was only a baby
Less than 20 by the looks
And you wouldn’t believe what I did.
Darkness told me you see
To creep up with a knife
And cut and cut
Until her inners were on the outside
And Oh the blood it flowed
Do you know the smell?

Darkness has left me
And another man came
From the sky this time
His name was Light
I didn’t want to touch him
And he was warm when he gripped me
But once I was in I was happy to be
And he told me all the things
I could do and see
He told me I could see you soon
He said because you are good
That soon you will be in heaven, my love
Is it true?
He said he knows Darkness
And that he is bad
But he forgives me
Because Darkness had him too
I think I like Light a lot
And I will listen to him
And I will wait for you
In this place I am going
Light says we will get there soon

Pity my soul love
For it is missing
In my heart I feel nothing
And my mind is fading fast
Darkness has found me again
He came from Light, from deep inside
He opened up like a cave
And Darkness stepped out
And shook me and
Said ‘Don’t you see what you’ve lost!’
I felt his grip and it reminded me
Of home and life and the times
We shared when we would
Spill blood and cut throats
And he embraced me even
Harder this time
And told me ‘Friend,
I will never leave you again.’
But he lied and left
And so I am here with Despair
But I don’t like him too much
He is empty and brutal
Hard to talk to and mean
He tells me I’m bad
And you know what my love?
Sometimes, I believe.
