I rediscovered Eden
And pronounced myself as queen
When I escaped the huddled crowds
Of Sunday School one evening.

In a place below my shower drain
Above the center of the world,
Where rainbows drip onto the swans
That bathe in crystal pools.

It's a place all my own, nobody but me
But the Lord and my beasts
And the soft cotton trees
And the shy prince of Eden, under my wing
And the lipstick-smeared apple
He holds in his teeth.
