Swings
She’s giggly and she laughs.
She smiles and cheers of excitement.
Her mom pushes her and she goes up and down.
Flying through the air, she has no care.
She doesn’t know what’s coming her way.
I sit and think to myself “I remember when that was me.”
Her mother watches her daughter fly.
Pushing her forward and waiting for her to come back.
Helping her fly through the air.
Soon enough she knows, she’ll no longer be helping her fly.
Sooner or later, she will fly on her own.
Sooner or later, she will forget all about her mother helping her fly through the air.
Sooner or later, she will be in my position, looking at a mother and daughter at the park.
Sooner or later, she will realize that that was once her on the swings.
