Diary of the Desrted

Silent affection apparent in our eyes…

My fairytale unfolded with your smile.
You swept me off my feet without a word.
Our worlds collided gracefully with hands
We never came to shake.

My life became quite overcome with you.
Your face would glitter in my sweetest dreams,
Refine my slumber—until I wished
That I would never wake.

Silent affection apparent in our eyes…

Undying was my love for you, my dear.
Mistaken was your love for me, I fear.
You looked right through me and you saw the girl
With diamonds in her hair.

I cried to know that you would not return.
But you would not turn back, love, not for me.
I blew a kiss, although I knew that it
Would linger in my air.

Silent affection apparent in our eyes…
Now we must exchange all-too-silent goodbyes…
