What can grip a hold of you?
And shadow each and every move
What never seems to leave your side?
The answer is called fear

It follows you round all the day
And never lets you have your say
It controls your every decision and move
This little thing called fear

You’re afraid to go and be yourself
Or take that book back off the shelf
To tell your friends what you really think
The reason is your fear

Each time you sleep it slithers in
Into your dreams, revealing sin’
You never get a moments rest
Because of constant fear

No matter what you’ve done or tried
It still continues to feed you lies
But there is a way to drive it off
The thing we know as fear

Take heart, don’t fail, and beat the odds
Don’t be shy when you’re applaused
If you take a chance and speak your thoughts
You will conquer this thing called fear

Never let it control your life
Instead of happiness it will bring you strife
Be wary, for from all ways it can enter in
Making you the next victim of fear

I turned on my laptop to begin writing an essay on one of my fears, but I considered just doing a poem called fear, and the words began to flow
