the day you told me I was going to be a big sister.

praying every night that I would have a baby sister,
even though I told everyone I would take a brother too.

the day mommy took me to her doctor appointment,
When I told the doctor I wanted a sister, he winked.

waking up on April 12th, 1996 to find out
that my mom was in the hospital.

I remember...
bugging Nan & Pop all day asking when the baby was coming.

I remember...
the phone call I received from Daddy telling me I had a baby sister.

I remember...
sitting in Nan’s kitchen waiting impatiently to go to the hospital.

I remember...
sitting in the hospital cafeteria, counting the minutes on Nan’s watch
until my baby sister would come out to the room.

I remember...
pestering Daddy to let him take me to the nursery to get another look
at her dressed beautifully in light pink.

I remember...
the nurses wheeling her into the room as my heart skipped with joy.

I remember...
meeting my new baby sister Karlee, and thinking...
I’m gonna love her forever.

I remember...
thinking this is the greatest present a parent can give a little girl.
I still think that today.

all the wonderful times we have shared as a family.
