Love Like A Song
We started out legato,
Slow, and quite refined.
We ended in an accent,
Harsh and short, not kind.
Our first verse was the best,
Our pace was gaining speed.
We were getting up to tempo,
You were at the lead.
I caught up in verse two,
Surprised you with my song.
Overwhelmed with defeat,
You raced to once again be strong
Then you were the melody,
Strong and Free.
I was the harmony,
Quiet, but Hard To Be.
I tried to follow you,
Tried to be so bold.
I quickly fell behind,
Your tune was getting old.
We came to a bridge,
You said that you must cross.
I said that I was tired.
You won.
Go on,
Go on.
Leave me here,
Lost.
You Won.
But our ballad was not yet done,
There was more to be said,
More to be sung.
We came back to the chorus,
Our love was once more strong.
But I was still behind,
Soon I would be gone.
So at last we reached the end,
The notes had played their last.
I was done,
You were done,
Our romance had finally passed.
