"Acceptance, we desire from others but most importantly, ourselves."

Darren if you could only sway your hair to the side
Maybe I could finally see those beautiful blue eyes
Music can be a pain to me,
But you and that guitar, boy---play as much as you please.

And yes, while you talk away in class,
As I fill out my college apps
I’ll think…
If you could only sway your hair to the side
Maybe I could finally see your eyes look into mine.

But thankfully you don’t
Because you wouldn’t like what you see
I do not wear black, and my hair is not Scene
I suck at the guitar, but on the piano
I can play “Greensleeves”.

A senior crushin’ on a sophomore
Oh how so obscene
But Darren, do remember
It’s those blue eyes I want to see.

I wrote this for a 10th grader even though I am senior. It was published anonymously in my school's newspaper. He still does not know it is me.
