What ever happened to the heroes of our past?
The one’s whose words could move us,
Or whose silence could break us.
The commercials show us the guys in camo as heroes,
But what do they say?
All I hear are their gun blasts.

What ever happened to the heroes of our past?
Who fought for freedom and justice.
We fight now for greed and money.
If the tyrants of old have become the heroes of new,
Then what good are we doing?

What ever happened to the heroes of our past?
Who blazed new trails for us to follow.
Guns? Fighting? Death? Been there, done that
When did learning from our past take a backseat
To fighting for our future?
