"The people you love can surprise you every day. Maybe who we are isn't so much about what we do, but rather what we're capable of when we least expect it." -Jodi Picoult

You started out so young
And you found a good career
But when it all was won
Everything just fell from here

When you became a hit
We all knew who you were
I did not think and sit
Well, what became of her?

But then you lost yourself
Beneath the fame and money
You hid your pain on the shelf
None of that was funny

Everyone saw the news
No one was shocked except me
But only you could choose
The time when you’d be free

I had to write a poem for my english class that followed the pattern of Theodore Roethke's "My Papa's Waltz." The subject of this poem is about an actress who I used to admire and idolize before she made some bad decisions.
