It Couldn't Have Been Otherwise

I got up in the morning
with droopy eyes.
It couldn’t have been
otherwise.
When I got to school,
I saw my friends.
We talked and talked
until the bell rang.
It couldn’t have been otherwise.

During the day, I did all my work.
I did my lab, even though
my partner was a jerk.
He did nothing, while I did everything.
It couldn’t have been otherwise.

After school, I did my homework
and my brother’s.
It couldn’t have been otherwise.
He ate while I worked.
I hated it when he smirked.
It couldn’t have been otherwise.

At night, I watched a movie.
It seemed very
interesting to me.
Once again,
I had droopy eyes.
It couldn’t have been otherwise.
