Cold air
Cold enough to extinguish heat
Heat that twirls
Heat that spins
In tendrils and then
Disappears

Cold air
Thief, taking your body’s head
Heat that pulses
Heat that warms
In blood and then
Disappears

Cold air
There near the end when heat
Heat that leaves
Heat that diminishes
Through the body and then
Disappears

Cold air
There when Death greets you
When heat leaves you
When the world fades away
Through the mind and out of sleep and then
Disappears

I was letting my dog out after a big snow storm and I noticed how quickly the steam that came out from my breath disappeared. That's what inspired this piece.
