Life

December 15, 2007
By Anonymous

Today the oppressed overthrow their oppressors,
Stand up, fight, win, and become their successors,
It’s true that in the face of danger people show their true colors,
Some seek revenge and some try and help others,
In a world of killers, any sinner could be king,
Don’t ask any questions, the truth is unforgiving,
I am who I am and that’s all that matters,
Not the, spites, fights, enemies or backstabbers,
And in the face of defeat I’ll stay true to my name,
Pretending, if I lose, that it was only a game,
Life is a race against time,
and I’m righting these rhymes,
as a token of trust,
to shine through others’ lust,
I know in the end, I’ll come out on top,
And nothing anyone does can make me stop,
After all, where would we be now if our leaders had given up,
If our own truths and rights had never been written up.
But still we search for sanity,
Since life is a commodity,
Given to us today,
Yet tomorrow taken away,
We sit here wishing our responsibilities would just melt,
We try to make the best of the time and the circumstances we’re dealt,
Right now we can only sit and wait,
And try and bear through the tragedies that life creates,
Now listen, for the words that I’m writing ring true,
Don’t let life’s troubles send you fleeing into the blue,
Bear with me and some opportunity will eventually come,
Since life is a game that can never be won.

Good job David!!!!

I think this is my favorite out of all of your poems.

"But still we search for sanity,

Since life is a commodity,

Given to us today,

Yet tomorrow taken away,"

Very smooth rhyming.

I think I'm reading Nische or Aristotel.
