I Am From

November 16, 2007
By Camilla Vik, Greenwich, CT

I am from the world,
The red eye flight.

I am from losing and winning,
The game of sports

I am from courage,
The little voice inside you that say I will try tomorrow,

I am from something that gives you strength.

I am from my older sister,
Page by page, book by book

I am from my older brother,
Quick and competitive.

I am from my father,
Sweet and sour.

I am from my mother,
Quiet and loud.

I am from the winter,
The blanket of white covering the ground.

I am from asados
Under the hot Uruguayan sun

I am from the vineyards
Growing high in the Chilean soil.

I am from - The World.
