I wish things were normal again
Like when I was younger
But when has anything been normal for us right?
I wish I were younger and didn't know or experience relationships,
Or boys, or feelings, or how it feels to hurt,
Or anything but how to be a kid
Like how we never used to judge each other or cared about what others thought of us
I've grown up and matured,
Know the difference between right and wrong & what I should and shouldn't do
Yet I still push my boundaries
I'm grown and corrupted,
No more am I innocent or clueless about life
I've experienced boys, relationships, "drugs", issues with my body and more
I know there's no such thing as a happy ending, a charming prince 'Edward', & a glass slipper
I know what it means to be a leader & a role model
And how people will judge you
I know what smoking can do to you & I also know how drinking can treat you
Remember when boys used to be icky?
Now they're irresistible
How that first kiss gave you butterflies
And sent an electric feeling down your spine
Now it's that "first time" that seduces you
We used to fear cooties, now we suffer from deadly STD's
The touch of a mother's warm hand brushing your cheek and understanding your harmless mistakes and saying 'it's okay sweetie'
Compared to a hard blow to the face when you once again commit that harmless crime with her now screaming 'what's wrong with you?!'
