- What Matters
It is just so hard to keep smiling
Even when you know you have reason’s to smile.
It is just so hard to keep from crying
Even when you know everything is okay.
It is just so hard
To keep on keeping on
And you feel like just…stopping.
Tears roll down your cheeks
And you can’t believe they’re from your eyes.
People ask if you’re okay
And you really can’t give them an answer.
It is so easy to push people away
And it is so hard to pull people closer.
All you need is a hug
But you feel like you’ll choke if anyone comes near.
You don’t know what is wrong
So you can’t fix the problem.
You just need a minute
And you don’t know what you need it for.
You feel like everyone hates you
Even though you can see the love on their faces.
You know you need to run
But you can’t think of exactly why.
Everything is just too heavy
But you can’t see the people waiting to help bear the load.
You just get so hungry
But all of the food makes you sick.
It’s all just too much
But you don’t exactly know what it all is.
You know you have so many blessings
But you just want to forget about them for a few moments.
You feel like drowning
But your feet are like concrete.
You just need to sleep
But your bed keeps moving further away.
You know you’re not alone
But you wish you were.
The love is just too big to see.
