Cheater

I promised.

I lied.

I cheated.

I swore to you it wouldn't happen again.

But you will never know the reality,

The battle within my head.

I smiled.

I faked.

I cheated.

Looked you in the eye, said I would stop.

But the words hurt me too,

And you're as convinced as I am not.

I cried.

I screamed.

I cheated.

Inside my mind, and the pain is silent.

You are the one that brought me here,

And yet you will never know it.

I bled.

I hurt.

I cheated.

You pretended to care, careful as you were.

But never once with my heart,

You think I'm insane? You're just as absurd.

I acted.

I overreacted.

I cheated.

On this game that we made.

Do as I say, and not as I do?

A vicious cycle we both played.

I promised.

You lied.

We cheated.

About a boy who never supported or helped me with my issues with self infliction, all the while cheating on me, as I cheated on my promises to him to get better.
