The Gathering

Outside paper lanterns churn in the wind
kept from the eyes of warmth
where within golden liquor lapps the edges of rotund chalices
beneath a ceiling grand and peaked
Crimson walls surround
those that lie belly up
lethargic with opulent thoughts
run fingers through carpet long and soft,
smelling of the orient
