The Lost Generation MAG

June 2, 2008
By Anonymous

Oh why have we settled in the unquiet darkness,
where the noise of the silence overwhelms our hearts?
And we fall apart –
the sun sets and it rises –
we make shapes of ourselves no one can see.
Oh why are we lost in these tears
if we’ve forgotten how to cry?
If absence makes the heart grow fonder
can we hold on much longer?
We are burning in a drought of faith,
unnoticing as the stars are earnestly shining,
desperately bleeding light.
Oh how ironically hopeless
is every star’s forgotten fight,
for we are just uselessly drowning
under the weight,
under the honesty of the unspoken.
Oh the noise of the silence overwhelms our hearts.
I believe we are skillfully crafted
inexplicable accidents,
and our hero – the potter –
is too late.

Love is not forbidden but it is a risky to fall into, but if its real-than you should stay true. Love is a funny thing,it cant be bought like a diamond ring. Love is greif and pain, you feel lost and insane.Love is a wonderful treasure, keep it forever

Its supposed to make you think, because it means that the only thing you can hear is silence which=nothing so its empty sound

Lovely. You've used large words and rather than clogging up the poem, it has given it a fluied feeling, like a river.

I am not an accident
I know I was skillfully crafted
By a potter
And that potter,
well to you, it might be different
But to me, that potter is Jesus !
Thumbs up on your poem! I loved it!

This was a fabulous poem, I liked how you said "we are burning in a drought of faith." I thought about that and well, we are. A kid in my school got made fun of for being in the bible club. Also, I like how you talk about stars being unnoticed, because our generation doesn't appriciate anything like a beutiflul view of a mountain or anything like that, its just there.

This is amazing. It has to be the best poem I've read on Teen Ink.

"I believe we are skillfully crafted

Inexcplicable accidents

and our hero-the potter-

is too late"

I have not found this line on any other poem anywhere. I have to agree with you 100% on everything. Never stop writing, ever.
