My Litttle Key
It’s funny, don’t you think? I find it rather strange;
That such a little thing can make such a massive change.
It’s a key, just a key; but to me it’s so much more;
For if I use my key, you see, I can open up the door.
Yes, the door, a mighty door, it’s been here all my life;
Keeping me locked away in here, alone with all my strife.
For twenty years it’s kept me here, it’s never let me out;
For twenty years I’d bang and knock, for twenty years I’d shout.
But no matter how I screamed for help, no one heard my plight;
So, alone I stayed in here, with no escape in sight.
There were others here before; others, trapped like me;
I loved them all, they loved me too; they were my family.
Yet one by one, through the door they walked, and always left me behind;
They loved me so, yet in the end, they were all so unkind.
They left me all alone in here, alone with all my fears;
Overcome with grief untold, I drowned in all my tears.
I’ve been alone for far too long, but that time has reached its end;
For once I take my key in hand, this mighty door I’ll rend.
I’ll break it down and I’ll pass through
To another world, bright and new;
Another life, another chance, thanks to you, my little key.
My little key, my little key, set me free, my little key.
Round and red; the strangest key that you will ever see;
It fits inside my hand it does; my tiny, little key;
But once it is inside of me, I’ll finally be free.
It’s funny, don’t you think? I find it rather strange;
That such a little thing can make such a massive change.
