Never have I thought of things
that lurk behind me in the dark
that dog my footsteps
and breathe their heavy breath upon my neck.
Never have I though of things
that wait behind the door
that call my name
and breathe their heavy breath upon my neck.
Never have I though of things
that hide behind my back
that wake me from my dreams
and breathe their heavy breath upon my neck.
But though I never think of them
they often think of me
they think and wait
and breathe their heavy breath upon my neck.
