In that sill second...
There’s a pause
A sudden pause
The noise and people
Just freeze
Like in movies
People and their actions are
Still.
Except for me
That one person
Moving
Sitting there
Thinking
Like I was alone in my room.
But really I’m in one of those scenes
In a movie
On the bleachers
Loud music
Rumbling feet
Laughing faces
Pom-poms hitting my face
And peoples elbows
Jabbing my sides
The noise around me
Circles my thoughts.
Then SNAP!
And I realize
This is the end of
High school.
And the beginning
of a new life.
