the recorded voice,
if calls were important
problems would be
non-existent
instead the drone of elevator music
punctures what’s left of my already tired
eardrums
beyond the crackle of the line i hear a distant hello
i tell “allen”
i am no female,
ma’am does not suffice as a description,
transfers grow,
memorizing the mosaic,
like the wasps have taken over,
minutes are passing like decades,
never to return
