It is not what we look at that matters, it is what you see. ~Henry David Thoreau

With words unspoken we look,
Waiting and wondering if fate
Stolen glances we took
Of inpatient feelings we hate.

Waiting and wondering if fate
Would kindly set us free
Of impatient feelings we hate,
Lost in a ticking melody.

Would kindly set us free
Does the bell that is hidden,
Lost in a ticking melody
Its sound has been forbidden.

Does the bell that is hidden
Wish to torture us so?
Its sound has been forbidden
We are still unable to go.

Wish to torture us so
Do the eyes of the crowd?
We are still unable to go;
Escape from the ticking that is so loud.

Do the eyes of the crowd
See us run away?
Escape from the ticking that is so loud
And survive another day.
