A Shrilling Alarm
A shrilling alarm is the first thing she hears
As she wakes
(Peacefully, until she remembers)
the fiery pit that she
just
can’t
escape;
The flames fueled by a troubling
fixation
with
shape.
A shrilling alarm is the first thing she hears
As she stares
(Neurotically, at a detestable stranger)
A loss of identity she
just
can’t
control;
With insanity gained through the
slip of
her
soul.
A shrilling alarm is the first thing she hears
As she walks
(Dreadfully, through the doors of her school)
A painful encounter she
just
can’t
defy;
Her desolate basin
of life
left
to
dry.
