Remember when we all believed in fairytales?
Mommy and Daddy always knew what was right.
Good versus evil, the hero always prevails.

Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, and Snow White, so pale.
All were rescued by their charming night.
Remember when we all believed in fairytales?

Beautiful faces, hidden under a princess veil.
Faces hidden by scarves dark as night.
Good versus evil, the hero always prevails.

We dressed up as pirates, and away we would sail.
Distant shores just out of sight.
Remember when we all believed in fairytales?

Growing up caused all those dreams to go stale.
We learned there was no such thing as fairies and sprites.
Good versus evil, the hero always prevails.

As kids we believed good could never fail.
We listened to stories and closed our eyes tight.
Remember when we all believed in fairytales?
Good versus evil, the hero always prevails.

I wrote this for my english class...it's a villanelle. Villanelles have a particular pattern. There are 5 groups of 3 lines (ABA rhyme pattern) and a group of 4 lines (ABAA rhyme pattern). Certain lines are repeated in certain places and certain lines must rhyme. It's complicated and this is my first try at this type of poem...
