There is no place like alone.

Last night, I made a wish
Full of grim, evil doom
My wish was not made upon a star
But rather a dark full crimson moon

I wished my very hardest
And cared not of consequence or cost
I wished just what you wished for
I wished that I'd get lost

And at that very moment
I cloaked with surrounding fear
And when I opened my eyes
I saw there was no anybody here

So, I started walking
Oh, the sights I saw
The strange was so imperfect
I was more satisfied with every flaw

As I creeped in deeper
I saw creatures hanging from trees
Screaming none other than "Get Lost"
Screaming, screaming at me

I prowled into the nothing
I howled with the cats
I roamed deeper and stranger
Never looking back

But, I could feel it nagging
Like a hungry cat's claws
"Unfinished business?"
I said, then I paused

Did you think you'd get a happy ending
Living in a world that holds no me?
Oh, an ending is very do-able
But happy, I can not guarantee.

My home is in your nightmares
Haunting you with creatures I create
I'll have you screaming in your sleep
And screaming in your wake.

You will stare into my empty eyes
And they will eat your soul
Those words you said "Get lost" to me
Are going to take their toll

I must admit I enjoy getting lost
This place I'll forever roam
The place with no anybody
There is no place like alone

The author's comments:
This piece was inspired by loss, cruelty and abuse in my life and how Emily the Strange (of all things) helped me see it differently.
Basically, getting lost was a metaphor of how my life was spiraling downwards uncontrollably. My coping mechanism was to embrace it.
