What I Stood Before

October 11, 2007
By Calais Barrette, Flower Mound, TX

I stand before
The sun
Bursting through
The starving selfless trees
I stand before
The cracked mirror of ice
Over the quilted perfection of snow
I stand before
This barren world
So empty
Yet so ready to give
Leaving my lungs full and fresh
I stand here
As the sun is pulled down
Once more.
Maybe I will come again
Someday
And stand as I stood before
