Start a Candle
Was my world this dark when I came in?
Did you make it dark or was it my sin?
Will the light shine through this pit?
Light a match, so this tunnel can be lit.
Start a candle in me, so I can shine.
Let me show this dark it’s not mine.
Did I put out the fire from long ago?
Clean me up, so I am white as snow.
This world is so dark and getting darker.
Show us that you are here to stay forever.
Your light is not dull, so why is mine?
I want to light up the world and be fine.
Move me from the darkness hidden in me.
Release me from the chains I can not free.
Light me up, so that I am not like the world.
I will not be satisfied being a normal girl.
I wanted to light this world like you lit me.
I want to show them that you are the key.
In the end, this world could be bright.
It could be taking in your holy light.
And that is what I pray, dear God.
