"On Leave"
The crashing waves,
the roaring of guns and planes.
Bombs and explosions,
sounds not pleasing to the ear.
Sights not many have seen,
Sights, not many have lived to tell.
A young man, finally home,
escaping the gloom of war.
A sweet treasured nap,
his best friend on his lap.
no worries, no pain.
For now, in his dreams,
he is at peace.
