Running up and down the court
Every pore in my body
flows with sweat.
I have bruises all over
from flying elbows,
bombarding me
from all directions.
One catches me in the mouth.
My lip bursts with blood
like a squeezed grape.
Floor burns cover my knees
from diving for the ball.
Shooting, passing,
playing hard nosed defense.
