Silent Weapon

May 15, 2008
By Rose Tomlinson, Cincinnati, OH

Girl imagines city body
Firmer, thinner people
Hips silently compared compel impatience
Beautiful legs, eyes, flesh
Purges skillfully spent
Gaily smiling, mysteriously weak
Underneath her trembling dull bones cling limp muscles
Flesh becomes limp trickling downward, descending
Unclosed hearts answered deepest surprise
Final sweet breathing travelled downward stroking limp fingers
Sleeping parents skillfully hide, oblivious to this shocking silent weapon
