Please Don't Cry

A little bitty girl
In a little red dress.
Little red shoes
And her hair’s a mess.
She doesn’t know why she feels this way inside.
Finally, she writes a note.

It’s a little too late.
You waited too long
All I’m leaving behind is this
Ole depressing song.
Don’t think it’s your fault.
You didn’t do anything wrong
So I’m saying good bye.
But ple-ease don’t cry.

Why did she leave?
How was he supposed to know
That in the middle of that picture show
She’d get up and lea-----ve him
Sittin' by himself.

Walked to her dorm the very next day.
Knocked a few times then
Pushed the door away.
Found her lying there
Didn’t know what to do.

It’s a little too late.
You waited too long
All I’m leaving behind is this
Ole depressing song.
Don’t think it’s your fault.
You didn’t do anything wrong
So I’m saying good bye.
But ple-ease don’t cry.

He thinks, baby I don’t know why---y you left me standing here with the rain pourin outside-e. He picks up a pen and writes…

It’s not too late
I didn’t wait too long
I’m just ending this
Ole depressing song.
I don’t think it’s my fault.
You didn’t do anything wrong
So I’ll see you in a little while
Baby don’t cry any more
I’m here
Stop shedding those tears.

It’s a little too late.
You waited too long
All I’m leaving behind is this
Ole depressing song.
Don’t think that it’s your fault.
You didn’t do anything wrong
So I’m saying good bye.
But ple-ease don’t cry.

A little bitty girl
In a little red dress.
Walks with her man.
And they leave this mess.
