The Widow of the South

The Widow of the South

The broken remains
Of the valiant men
Lie beneath her feet;
The husbands, fathers,
Sons and lovers
Of thousands.

Day after day, she
Meticulously plants,
And replants, and
Weeds, wishing only to
Do her part, in this
War 40 years over.

"This will certify that the above work is completely original." Ellen Herrmann
