Death through life
Walk through the streets, look all around
see faces everywhere but hear not a sound
where have all the people gone?
you've been deserted in a crowded throng

Turn around, see your best friend,
glance to your right, see your boyfriend
to your back and your front are your mom and dad
your brother looks angry and incredibly sad.

Where is this place, where you wander with no direction?
you've driven yourself here with your want of perfection
now, there will be no escaping
this is your eternity in the making.

You strove all your life to end up in heaven
but you sold your soul to the devil again and again
walk through the streets, look all around
see faces everywhere but hear not a sound

Welcome to your self-imposed death
you're in hell, now take another shallow breath.

I wrote this piece after I realized I spend too much of my time striving to be perfect, and because of it I have lost myself.
