The Right One

Disclaimer: the words within the quotations belong to Celine Dion and/or the original artist.

“What if we were meant to be together
What if you were meant to be the one”

I sang the lyrics as I bounced down the street.
The sun was golden and bright overhead.
The air was warm and compelling.

“Cause you're the fire, you're the one
But you'll never see the sun
If you don't know, you're right next to the right one”

The lyrics continued to flow from my lips.
My voice carried down the street in a sweet melody.
My feet still kept tempo with the music.

“In the end you've got a friend for lifetime
Truly there to truly care for you.”

My voice was still as smooth as honey.
The warmth of the sun followed me around the corner.
I could feel the music rushing through my body.

“And I could call it many names
But it's myself I need to blame
If you don't know, you're right next to the right one”

I smiled at the words, letting the meaning sink in.
Now the sun was blocked by the towering houses.
My heart slowed as I caught my breathe.

“So in the end it all depends on whether you'll find
Warm embrace when I replace the one you had in mind…”

As I turned the corner, I saw him standing there.
Once again the heat of the sun rushed over me.
The beat of my heart paralleled that of the song.

“Cause you're the fire, you're the one
But you'll never see the sun
If you don't know, you're right next to the right one
And I could call it many names
But it's myself I need to blame
If you don't know, you're right next to the right one “
