Autumn Tempest

Still.
Quiet.

Shadowy,
Mysterious and unspoken,
It menacingly tiptoes.
A breeze whispers.
Ptt ptt
Leaves rustle.
Yellow, red and orange blurs
Topple and stumble, as they travel
Ptt ptt
Ptt ptt
Gently dripping from the clouds.
Draped in darkness,
Rain grows heavy.
Spatter.
Splash.
Puddles grow.
Screeching in the sky,
Thunder rumbles.
stunning streaks.
Lightning.
Spine bristles with chills.
Trees moan.
Untamed wind
Twists and coils
Her brittle branches.
Snap.
Crack.
Dead limbs fall.
Ptt Ptt
Ptt ptt
Slowing.
Screaming rumbles,
Tempest takes last breath
Silence .
Quiet .
Still.

Excellent description of an autumn storm. I could almost feel the rain as the storm began and climaxed. Great poetry, Sarah
