What Do You Really See?
What do you see when you look at me?
Do you see a man of colour walking down the street, or a negro blocking your path.
What do you see when you look at me?
Do you see a coloured teenager wearing a hood to keep dry from the rain?
Or do you see a gangster with a face to hide.
What do you see when you look at me?
Do you see a coloured man picking up a dirty knife to wash?
Or do you see a thug picking up a knife to stab someone with.
What do you see when you look at me?
Do you see a man rolling down the window because it is a hot day?
Or do you see a man rolling down the window for a drive-by.
Want to know what I see when I look at you?
I see a racist ready to cut me down while I walk.
I see a racist hiding their hate and disgust from me.
I see a racist finding a weapon to use against me.
I see a racist about to kill me.
