Can you enlighten me?
Strip away the last third wheel
Throw paint at the white walls
Cook me dinner, lunch, and breakfast daily
Praise my failing undertaking?

Will you enlighten me?
Tell me what emotion to feel
Keep me company when no one calls
Teach me how to laugh gaily
Love me, though it may be painstaking?

You can't enlighten me.
No one can tell me how to feel.
I can pick myself up when I fall
Just tell me a joke that's merry
I can't go through life faking.

You can wipe my tears,
Embrace me, tell me there's no fears.
You can be the warmth I never felt.
Maybe eventually I will melt.

I recently read an article about child abuse, and it really inspired me to write this poem.
