   Sea Thoughts

The waves are whispering things to me
As sea gulls wheel above,
The shadows gliding over the packed, damp sand.
The waves whisper love.
The sapphire expanse of boundless sea
And knife-edge of horizon on sky
Mix longing and love gently within me.
The waves tell how and ask not why.
A dog throws his barks down the empty beach.
His voice echoes in the blue
In the endless, vibrant cycle of living.
The waves tell, my love, of you.
